Today's digital world offers many more possibilities of listening to music compared to several years ago. For example, a while back you could only listen to music using audio CDs, which are able to store a small number of songs. Now, you are able to listen to music using your computer, as the digital audio files have taken the place of audio CDs. Still, there are users who have a large CD collection and would like to convert it to regular digital audio files, for listening to the songs anytime, anywhere and also to preserve the life of the CDs and protect them from scratches.

An application which can help you in this situation is CDex. This Windows program has a long tradition in digital audio ripping and has been on the market for a while. Besides ripping audio CDs to audio files, CDex also includes some other useful features. After installing and launching it, the user will be presented with a simple and intuitive interface, which allows him to easily rip audio CDs to regular files.

After inserting the audio CD, the user will be able to extract the tracks in several ways, either as WAV or compressed audio files or both. If one chooses to have the audio CD converted to WAV files, he will be able to turn them into compressed audio files later on. The number of formats supported by CDex is quite impressive and for each of them, the application offers the possibility of customizing quality settings.

Besides ripping audio CDs and converting WAV files into other formats, CDex also includes some useful tools, like a media player, an audio CD player, a CUE sheet generator, which is useful for splitting large digital audio files into several small files and also a CDDB function, which allows downloading audio CD information from a large Internet database.

It allows you to easily rip audio CDs into WAV or compressed audio formats. Besides that, the user can configure quality settings for each format separately. Furthermore, WAV files can be converted to compressed formats. Furthermore, the audio CD information and track names can be downloaded from the Internet, using the CDDB feature.

The interface seems a bit outdated and doesn't support skins or themes. With CDex, you will be able to quickly rip any audio CD and convert it to digital audio files.
